Simply Sheila :: Zilker TreeIt’s an Austin tradition to spin beneath the Zilker Tree. Don’t spin too fast or too long or you might just fall down.

The Zilker Tree was first lit in 1967 by Emma Long. It is made of 39 streamers, each made up of 81 multicolored 25-watt bulbs. A double white star made of 150 frosted bulbs caps the tree measuring 10 feet from point to point. The 155-foot tree measures 380 feet wide. The base is constructed of 19 utility poles, each 14-feet tall, set in a circle around the famous Moonlight Tower.
